REGALWISE SHEPHERDSAdvice for puppies who chase kids Shepherd puppies need to run and play and they have a strong instinct to chase things that move. Since they don't have hands to grab with, they use their mouth. This is normal puppy play behavior and you are not likely to change it. I see four options: Teach the puppy not to chase, (very unlikely) Teach the kids not to run. (also very unlikely) Separate the puppy from the kids when they feel like running. Teach the puppy to wear a "basket type" muzzle when playing with the kids so that the puppy can't bite them.
